The angle grinder groans, music fueling the dance, and as the cloud of dust and debris rises, the senses emerge into a crescendo of chaos before the calm takes over.
The chatter of mind fades, leaving only artist, tool and medium.
In this place of moving meditation, I am still.
This is my process.
This is why I create!

My current work, the Infatuation Series, began in 2014 with construction of the Red Iris. My second piece (titled Ménage à Trois) improved on the original concept, with use of epoxy clay over a welded steel frame. I used calla lilies to highlight similar vortices found in nature, inviting the viewer on a journey of adventure and mischief. When assembled, the lilies are over 5ft tall and more than 10ft across and can easily hold the weight of two (or three) people.

Inspiration for the series was born when I read a quote by Georgia O’Keeffe, “Nobody sees a flower - really - it is so small it takes time - we haven't time - and to see takes time.”

I made them big to truly see.
If we will only take the time.
